17 Apr 2022 SAAFoST announces appointment of new CEO and relocation to new premises
The South African Association for Food Science & Technology (SAAFoST) has announced the appointment, on a full-time contract, of a new CEO, Ingrid Woodrow.
Ingrid graduated with a BSc (Agric) in Dairy Technology from the University of Pretoria and started her career in the dairy industry.
Chemical, physical, sensory and microbiological testing were the starting points and, from there, research and development. She also completed a BCom through UNISA.
After a few years of living abroad, she obtained skills in co-running a small manufacturing company and, more recently, in sales and marketing of functional food ingredients.
Ingrid Woodrow became a SAAFoST member while still a student and, for the past number of years, she served as Chair of the SAAFoST Northern Branch Committee.
Ingrid is passionate about food and people and strives to communicate, train, educate and assist in ensuring nutritious, safe food for all.
Ingrid Woodrow comes highly recommended and SAAFoST has given her a warm welcome to the SAAFoST team.
Congratulations Ingrid!

Farewell to Susan Featherstone
Ingrid takes over the helm from Susan Featherstone (left) after a year in the post part-time – and whose in-demand work as a respected micro/packaging consultant has forced her hand.
She recently advised, “I have had a fabulous time working with so many people in the food industry who give so selflessly of their time.
“It’s been an interesting year and the Association has played such an important role in ensuring that relevant information was communicated and learning was ongoing during the last two years of lockdown.
“I am sure that the online communication skills that we have acquired will only help the objectives of SAAFoST going forward, but I am sure that you, like me, are looking forward to some proper face-to-face networking soon.
“I will be concentrating on my consulting business, which I love and is proving to be time consuming. Thank you, to all of you who I have interacted with during this past year, for sharing so much energy and enthusiasm with me. I look forward to continuing to be a professional member of SAAFoST and to bumping into you at meetings and Congress.”
SAAFoST relocates to new premises at the CSIR
SAAFoST’s office has moved to new premises on the CSIR Campus in Pretorial. It’s now located at: Block 4W Room 228, CSIR, Meiring Naudé Road Brummeria, Pretoria.
