Parmalat’s new shisanyama slices

Parmalat has launched an iconically local new flavour for its processed cheese slices aimed at the huge market that is South African street food.

Processed cheese slices have become a mega seller in SA – and a billion-rand brand for Lactalis, as Parmalat is now known.

Understanding how much we love our heritage and local flavours, Parmalat has launched shisanyama-flavoured processed cheese slices, an ingredient widely enjoyed in popular street food such as kota’s or gatsby’s.

Shisanyama is a Zulu word, which refers to the way meat is cooked over hot coals. It started off as a way for butchers to drive sales over the weekends, and today it’s one of South Africa’s most delicious and social ways of eating.

Along with shisanyama, a kota with cheese is another favourite dish South Africans love to enjoy.

In a month-long consumer competition to mark the launch of this first-to-market shisanyama cheese, Parmalat has partnered with several of South Africa’s most loved food influencers to create their favourite kotas incorporating shisanyama cheese slices into the recipe.

Parmalat Shisanyama is available in 200g (R34.99), 400g (R59.99) and 900g (R119.99) packs from local spazas and supermarkets.
