30 Jun 2016 US: Cargill launches lower cal sugar/honey/stever sweetener
New Truvía Nectar is the reduced-calorie way to love honey, according to its manufacturer, Minneapolis-based Cargill.
It is a blend of Truvia-brand stevia leaf extract with real sugar and honey. It has 50 percent fewer calories per serving than sugar and adds a touch of sweetness wherever there’s a need to use agave, sugar or honey.
As Truvía Nectar is twice as sweet as honey, consumers only need to use half as much, says Cargill.
This new liquid sweetener, with a honey-like consistency, comes in a plastic squeeze bottle. There’s a portable 100g bottle, as well as a kitchen-sized 300g bottle. The suggested retail prices are $3.99 and $6.99, respectively.
Truvia Nectar joins other Cargill Truvia products sold at retail.

- Truvia Brown Sugar Blend, which is a combination of stevia extract and brown sugar and also has 75 percent fewer calories than brown sugar.
