22 Oct 2015 Propak Africa 2016: An essential food-beverage packaging trade forum
The South African and African packaging industries will take centre stage at Propak Africa 2016 at the Expo Centre, Nasrec in Johannesburg, from 15-18 March 2016, together with co-located shows Pro-Plas Africa, FoodPro, Pro-Label Africa and The Gapp Print Expo. It is, by far, the leading SA expo of its kind, and a must-do for anyone who markets or uses food-beverage packaging.
ProPak Africa 2016
Propak Africa is an essential industry trade forum that provides an opportunity for suppliers and manufacturers to showcase latest products, equipment and machinery. Launching new products to market, on site sales, plenty of sales leads and brand visibility were cited by exhibitors as being the major advantages of being part of Propak Africa 2013.
“Our role at Propak Africa is to provide a platform where the latest products and technologies can be showcased in an interactive and pro-active way that enables exhibitors and visitors to mutually benefit from the experience,” says Joshua Low, Propak Africa Portfolio Director at Specialised Exhibitions Montgomery, organisers of the show. “We’ve had an overwhelming response to the shows with over 78% of available space already sold.”
Showcasing the latest products and technology, visitors to the exhibition will see state-of-the-art equipment as well as a vast array of machinery, auxiliary products and services.
“Propak Africa and the co-located shows together make up the largest and most successful packaging, food processing, plastics, printing, labelling and wine manufacturing equipment exhibition on the African continent’” says Low. “They deliver a great return on investment for exhibitors and provide a world-class event for local and international visitors.”
While consumers don’t buy products for their packaging, packaging continues to be increasingly important in helping consumers make purchasing decisions. Besides the basic function of protecting pack contents, packaging is used to brand products, communicate marketing messages, communicate information about the product and decorate and differentiate a product from its competitors.
All the latest packaging trends will be on show Propak Africa 2016 such as sustainable packaging, large value packs, smaller concentrated packs, multi-use packaging and new functional forms.
Pro-Plas Africa
This will focus on the latest developments and new technologies coming out of the local plastics industry. One such area is the growth in biodegradable plastic packaging which is being fuelled by consumer demand for more environmentally-sustainable products. This is used for food, beverages, personal care, cosmetics, healthcare, medicine and other biodegradable plastic packaging markets.
“Pro-Plas Africa will be showcasing plastics processing machinery, blow moulding equipment, extrusion equipment, granulators, injection moulding equipment, processing aids and materials,” says Low, “and will highlight latest innovations that this industry offers.”
