16 Oct Polyoak factories are now FSSC 22000 certified
Polyoak Packaging, a leading supplier of rigid plastic containers to SA’s food-beverage sectors, has announced that all of its main manufacturing sites in Cape Town, Gauteng and Durban are now FSSC 22000-certified. It is the first local packaging company to win this stringent international food safety ticket through SGS South Africa.
“Adhering to this strict food safety system means that our customers no longer need to conduct any additional independent food safety audits, as they trust the FSSC 22000 certification to protect the integrity of their precious brands,” says Etienne Skein, Polyoak’s executive for quality assurance.
Polyoak conducted a thorough review before appointing SGS as its certification body for its quality and food safety systems – and is now the proud holder of FSSC 22000-certification. SGS made the awards in May 2014.
Skein adds, “Polyoak is proud to have achieved FSSC 22000 certification through SGS with its impressive reputation globally and its fully trained teams who maintains these high standards.
“In addition to packaging safety, Polyoak understands the critical impact that packaging can have on the odour and flavour of the product inside, especially for water or dairy which are highly susceptible to taking on unwanted odours or flavours derived from their packaging.
“For this reason we comply with EU Regulations to ensure that our raw materials used for food packaging are independently migration tested to confirm that they are organoleptically inert in order to prevent odour or flavour tainting.”
