Listeriosis workshops for SA food industrialists

South Africa now owns the title of home to the world’s worst outbreak of human listeriosis, with confirmed cases: 767; deaths: 81 as at 16 January 2018. Here is news of two symposia worth attending – two different programmes with complementary objectives.

SAAFoST and Food Focus both had plans underway to run listeriosis workshops, but due to the urgency of the situation, and the severity of the outbreak, they have decided to run the events back-to-back in the same venue to make the events as accessible and cost-effective as possible for all stakeholders in the food industry, and to avoid duplication.

 The SAAFoST event will focus on the scientific aspects of the outbreak, with input from renowned speakers and food safety experts. 

Food Focus will be addressing the steps industry needs to take to prevent and address the risks in food facilities, with focus on sector specifics. 

Together the events will provide a holistic overview of the challenges the industry faces, and the solutions.

SAAFoST brings you the latest science on Listeria, the disease listeriosis and experiences of local industry and governments in other countries experienced in dealing with listeriosis outbreaks.
