Fabulous sweets & snacking innovation at ISM 2025

The global sweets and snacking industry met up in Cologne earlier this month…. and it was bursting with innovation as manufacturers adapt to changing consumer trends…

ISM in Cologne confirmed its position as the leading trade fair of a flourishing global sweets and snacks industry from 2 to 5 February 2025 – and impressively demonstrated that the industry is full of optimism and innovative spirit in spite of all the challenges.

Each year, the New Product Showcase takes centre stage – and it’s no surprise why. This is where the most exciting ideas and innovations in the confectionery and snack industry get the spotlight they deserve.

As a highlight of ISM and ProSweets Cologne, it’s more than just an exhibit; it’s a trendsetter for the entire industry. In addition to current trends such as sustainability, transparency, health, functionality and new combinations of different aromas or textures, the classic sweets and snacks were also the centre of attention.

The “Snacks on the go” trend, which involves conventional meals being replaced by practical in-between meals, is reflected by many of the new products.

At the heart of this showcase is the New Product Showcase Award, celebrating exceptional creativity and setting a benchmark for quality. This prestigious accolade not only highlights industry excellence but also serves as a trusted signal for retailers and buyers.

The top innovations are selected by an independent and expert jury – experts from the fields of industry, trade and science. The three best innovations are awarded prizes and honored in a private setting at the festive ISM dinner.
