28 Mar 2014 US: General Mills’ new high protein snack
Here’s an interesting new snacking option to please those followers of a low carb regime – a cheese crisp snack, called Frollicks All Cheese Crisps, and introduced on a trial basis in the US by General Mills. [Click pic to enlarge]
The snack was reportedly born on the North Shore of Lake Superior last winter, when a General Mills food technologist was holed up in a cabin testing recipes. On finding a promising option, she brought the concept to the General Mills offices and worked with colleagues to refine its creation and production.
Frollicks has three flavours: cheddar, monterey jack and spicy pepper jack. More are in the pipeline. A 16g pouch has 90 calories, 8g of protein and 6g of fat.
It was launched in the Denver area, where General Mills is watching and tweaking the product ahead of a planned nationwide launch.
“With Frollicks, we’re taking something people love and want to eat more of – cheese – and we’re delivering it in a way they’ve never seen before,” says GM associate marketing manager, Jonanthan Scearcy.
