SAI Global has announced the acquisition of QPRO International, a leading provider of food safety auditing, microbiological testing and related services in Southern Africa. SAI Global is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange.
A privately-owned company formed in 2002, QPRO International has an established track record of providing food safety auditing and related services to a blue chip client base in the retail, catering, hospitality and food manufacturing sectors in South Africa.
With a full-time staff complement in excess of 55 food safety auditors and microbiologists, QPRO International is well regarded in the region for its professionalism, technical expertise, ethics and reliability.
“We are thrilled to be joining SAI Global, a highly regarded and recognized company offering food safety assurance and certification services on a global basis,” said Julie Woods, managing director of QPRO. “Their portfolio of services and global expertise will benefit our customers and our staff.”
“QPRO International is an exceptionally well run business and this acquisition will solidify SAI Global’s auditing and laboratory testing footprint in the region and provide access to key South African accounts. This acquisition supports SAI Global growth in the food testing Sub-Saharan markets.” said Tony Scotton, CEO of SAI Global.
“South Africa is a fast emerging agri-food market and important in supporting our global account strategy. QPRO gives us critical mass in South Africa and capability beyond what we can currently offer through our existing operation. He added “I am delighted to welcome Julie Woods, Philippe Fatzer and the staff of QPRO to SAI Global”.
Consideration for the acquisition is circa A$5.9M (R54.6m) plus an adjustment for working capital.
