Robertsons ventures into wet herb pastes

Unilever SA’s iconic Robertson’s herb and spice brand has broken its traditional dry mould with the launch of a new wet paste range, called Robertsons Paste!

The company dubs this “an innovative, next generation wet paste format of herbs and spices, freshly picked at their source and frozen… a unique cold process that locks in the fresh and natural flavours of the very best herbs and spices with no artificial flavourings, colourants, preservatives or added MSG”.

With the quality of fresh herbs and the convenience of dry, Robertsons Paste! can be used at any stage of the cooking process as it releases flavour immediately. Unlike pesto-type condiments, Robertsons Paste! contains pure herbs and spices in a puree format with usage directions of 1 teaspoon per 100ml of sauce. It has up to double the flavour of an equivalent amount of dry herbs and spices and is preserved using natural ingredients such as olive oil  and vinegar.

Paste! offers consumers the fresh taste of herbs and spices on hand everyday with its shelf life of 15 months unopened and three months once opened and refrigerated.

It is available in several fresh flavour varieties including the taste of Basil, Italian Herbs, Ginger, Paprika and Mixed Peppercorn.

Local celebrity chef, Reuben Riffel, is being used in the marketing campaign, endorsing the Robertsons Paste! in a series of TV ads, promotions, cooking demonstrations, food show appearances, merchandising and more over the next few months.

Robertsons Paste! is available through all major supermarkets and retailers, wih an RSP of between R23.99 and R27.99 for a 120g tub.
