Uncanny that two liquid stocks should hit our shelves this year. NoMU did it earlier with its Fonds, and now that diva food of Cape Town, Ina Paarman has done it. Paarman Foods’ new range of three liquid stock concentrates is a gourmet solution for serious home cooks who enjoy adding a professional touch to their cooking. Liquid stock, after all, is the secret ingredient of chefs around the world!
All three Real Liquid Stock concentrates are said to be “prepared the traditional way, using only the best ingredients”. The range comprises Real Beef Stock, Real Fish Stock (a first for South Africa) and Real Chicken Stock.
Ina Paarmans Liquid Stock is ideal for making sauces, gravies, soups and casseroles. The undiluted concentrates are general flavour enhancers and perfect, too, for glazing roast chicken or beef.
The packs (red for beef, blue for fish and yellow for chicken) contain eight easy-tear 25g heavy-duty foil sachets, and users need to add one sachet to 250ml of boiling water to make a cup of stock.
The pasteurised concentrates contain neither artificial colourants nor added MSG, they are preservative-free and are all gluten free and low fat. Ina Paarman reports that the product is filled on an existing form-fill-seal system in its Cape Town factory.
“We are very proud of this development,” comments Ina.
And so they should be…. The product won the Convenience, as well as the Grand Prix, prizes (selected in five categories) at the recent Good Food & Wine Show in Jo’burg. Each winner was awarded R350 000 worth of product research to be carried out by The Nielsen Company, the largest research company in the world, PLUS a guaranteed listing at Pick n Pay on Nicol, their new flagship store due to open in October. In addition, the “Grand Prix” winner received a free stand valued at R75 000 at next year’s Good Food & Wine Show, Gauteng.
The NoMU Fond product won the Innovation category prize.
