22 May 2014 Maizena extends its range with two new instant sauces

Pioneer Foods has launched a new extension to its Maizena brand, two instant savoury sauces that are “convenient, save time and offer the same consistently high quality as Maizena’s original cornflour”.

Maizena’s new Creamy White and Three Cheese Instant Sauces in individual 38g sachets, enough for four servings, are quick and hassle-free and are low in fat, cholesterol and gluten free. 

By simply adding 250ml boiling water to the sachet’s contents and after a quick one minute whisk, the sauce is ready.  

Pioneer Foods says: “The Creamy White Instant Sauce will save valuable time when making the perfect lasagne, moussaka or macaroni and cheese for instance, the Three Cheese Instant Sauce will turn steaks, green leafy vegetables, pastas etc. into gourmet meals.

“Passed down through generations for more than 100 years, Maizena is South Africa’s much loved and trusted cornflour that has been every cook’s secret ingredient for decades. “

Other variants in the range include the original Maizena 500g box and the recently launched tub with a resealable screw-top lid.

Maizena, says the company, is “perfect to create a rich, smooth consistency in sauces, gravies and for thickening hearty casseroles. Maizena also makes the fluffiest omelettes and soufflés. For lighter pies and cakes, one part Maizena is recommended for every three parts flour. It is also a vital ingredient in popular recipes such as milk tarts, meringues, shortbread and other crisp, light baking delights”.

The individual Maizena Creamy White and Three Cheese Instant Sauces have a case configuration of 4 X 10 X 38g. These will be available from all leading retail stores from June 2014, retailing at approximately R7.99 each.
