FLUTTERBY TWIN SLIMPAK
Riding on the current wave of sustainability, Boland Cellars is partnering with various retailers to offer a twin slimpak of Flutterby Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot in the soft and slim 750ml Rappet wine bottle from Mpact Plastics. The shatterproof and lightweight qualities of the bottles make the product most appropriate for outdoor consumption, and the wine styles are selected with this in mind.
The PET bottles have barriers to prevent oxygen ingress and are pigmented to ensure protection from UV light. Blind tastings have confirmed that there is no effect on taste and shelf life is guaranteed for up to two years.
Using Anthony Lane’s graphic design work for delightfully printed labels from Paarl Labels, the Flutterby twin slimpak is available in a corrugated die-cut carry pack from Prisma Packaging. The sustainability theme is emphasised by the use of a kraft outer liner with austere single black print.
APPLETISER NOW IN PET
For the last forty five years, Appletiser has been available in elegant glass formats and only more recently in cans, with the brand traditionally focused at the ‘food services’ channel. In a recent move, tantamount to the legendary Steinway group including electric pianos in its exclusive grand piano range, Appletiser, Grapetiser and Peartiser are now also available in a new cost effective, convenient value range in 350ml and 1,25-litre PET bottles from Boxmore Plastics.
Denied the benefits of pasteurisation, which a glass bottle allows, the PET options include preservatives to ensure extended shelf life.
In an attempt to widen commercial opportunities, it is hoped the PET options will extend the brand’s appeal into a retail-centric pack, capable of offering greater value and convenience to consumers, while meeting a need for environmentally-conscious consumers. Fiscal and market share progress will be interesting to follow as this new script unfolds.
SAFARI FRUIT GEMZ & SNAPS TREATS
There was a time when dried fruit packaging was boring, but not anymore! There’s never a dull moment, especially for kids, when Safari introduced variants into its already prolific range!
This time they have a choice of Safari Gemz, strip packs of Berry and Apple, and a brightly-decorated carton of Safari Snaps Fruit Medley containing six 20g packs of Blueberry, Apple and Strawberry.
The funky Safari Gemz and Snaps packaging was designed by BMFA Graphic Design Finished Art in Cape Town, while ACF prints the flexible bags. Copy on the back panel of the Snaps cartons is printed by Boland Printers, linking the younger generation to the Safari Kids website where, upon joining the Safari Kids Club, children have access to activity books, games, recipes, Fruduko (just like Suduko, only fruitier!) and discount vouchers.
