FERRERO POCKET ESPRESSO

I came across this confectionery gem at Dischem. From Ferrero, the same folks who bring us those wonderful Rocher chocolate candies, comes Pocket Espresso to Go.

It’s a liquid mix of real espresso and dark chocolate in a cute little package that’s meant to be sucked through the universe’s cutest, tiniest straw! Pocket Espresso to Go has one-third of the caffeine of a regular cup of espresso, with 47 calories and 1g of fat. It can be enjoyed cold, right out of the fridge or at room temperature. It’s a killer when poured over vanilla ice cream.

ON THE GO FUSION SNACKS

On the Go Fusion SnacksAfter ‘paying their dues’ in the cereal business (as founders of both Nature’s Source, now part of Bokomo; and Simply Cereal), Rudene and Andrew Brown have entered the wellness snack market segment with their delightful On the Go Fusion Snack range – choice grade fruits and nuts, with a few interesting healthy inclusions (swirls, lemon twists, etc) to add to the taste.

The design team from Durban, O’Donoghue & Associates, came up with the brand, logo and graphic design work for the gravure-printed packs imported from China. With national listings at Clicks, Dischem, Fruit & Veg City and selected Pick n Pay stores, On the Go is on its way to stardom – so much so that CTP Flexibles Cape flexo prints the pouch material in eight colours on its Fischer & Krecke press using inks from Coates/Sun Chemical and with repro work by AFS (African Flexographic Solutions).

SALLY WILLIAMS’ SOFT NOUGAT PIECES WITH ROASTED ALMOND

Sally Williams NougatThe magic never ends. You won’t be able to resist Sally Williams’ new Soft Nougat Pieces with Roasted Almonds & Cranberries! Consumer research revealed that there was room for a fruit-flavoured nougat variant in the long list of Sally Williams temptations – and so it was that, after extensive taste tests, the subtle contrast between the tartness of the cranberries and the sweetness of the nougat won the heart of consumers sampled in the trials. Why change a winning combination?

Long-time supplier Masterpack prints Marsha Jensen’s alluring design on 250g/m2 Masterkote using LMQ food grade inks and seal coating.

SIMBA LAY’S LIMITED EDITION

Lay's ICC special edition chipsThe ICC World Cup gala cricketing event is underway, being hosted in three countries of South Asia – Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh. PepsiCo, as the official beverage and snacks partner of the Cricket World Cup 2011, has seized the opportunity to promote the link locally via a limited edition Lay’s Korma Curry Flavour in 36g and 125g packs.

The packs feature two of our batting stalwarts in JP Duminy and AB de Villiers – both in fine form! Using Quartermaster’s design work, Nampak Flexibles KZN gravure prints the snack packs on an eight-colour Cerutti press, on BOPP/PE/MET BOPP lamination (supplied by Fima), using Eagle inks.

SIP ’N SURPRISE AND FROOPERS

FroopersKool Kidz Corporation was established in 2006, with the intention of introducing quality, original products into the children’s market within South Africa and beyond. From new offices in Parkhurst, Jonathan Traub and his team are looking forward to the benefits of their recent merger with local partner, Fruitime.

Made in Poland and filled in PET bottles with a sports cap, the Surprise Drinks range contains collectable toys in capsules embedded in the belly of the bottle, enclosed with a full shrink-sleeve label. Another range soon to be launched is called Froopers. Imported from Malaysia, this is a ‘tuck’ line for kids that will allow children to write their names on the bottle and to build their collection of characters. To demonstrate the inventiveness of the brand owners, Froopers are made from dishwasher safe HDPE to promote reuse.
