AB PRODUCTS BLACK GOLD
When his coffee shop Kikka was established in 2004 at 217 Main Road, Paarl, Abe Conradie used Black Gold as a salad dressing and garnish. This led to customers asking for stock to use at home or to buy as gifts. Demand for the product grew steadily and Abe decided to bottle and sell the product on his deli shelf. Over time, distributors approached Abe asking if they, too, could add to their ranges.
As a result, Abe thought it best to separate the product from the coffee shop and restaurant business and in 2006 founded AB Products. The AB range includes Black Gold reduced balsamic vinegar with herbs and spices; Mediterrano reduced balsamic vinegar; Olive Oil Tuscan style; Sweet Fire Zesty chilli sauce; and Malagasy Green tangy green peppercorn sauce. Cape Town-based Milkwood Design created the AB logo plus graphic designs for the labels. Bottle and spouts are ex GB Packaging and HP Labelling supplies the labels.
