20 Jul 2011 Cargill confirms approach for flavours business from Kerry Group
Cargill has confirmed it has been approached by Kerry, the global ingredients and flavours and consumer foods group, who has expressed interest in acquiring Cargill’s global flavours business. The two are now in exclusive discussions which may, or may not result in the sale of the business.
Cargill’s flavours business spans 22 countries, with production facilities in Europe, North America and Asia. The company employs around 700 people and works with customers globally to provide flavour ingredients and flavours for the beverage, dairy, sweet and savoury categories across a wide range of applications.
Kerry Group is a leading global food ingredients and flavours provider and a leading consumer foods processor in the UK and Irish markets. Through its manufacturing, technical and customer service facilities spread throughout 23 countries across EMEA, American and Asia-Pacific markets, Kerry partners with customers globally to provide ingredients and flavours solutions across all food and beverage end-use markets.
Both companies are now engaging in the full consultation process with employee representative bodies in the relevant countries, a process which should take in the region of four to six weeks.
