Senior Laboratory Analyst - essential to hold ND/BSc in Analytical Chemistry or Food Technology
Location: Pretoria
Description: A food-testing service laboratory in Pretoria is seeking a Senior Laboratory Analyst to ensure accurate and timeous completion of prescribed analytical protocols and accompanying duties. The successful candidate will be responsible for: implementation of GC and GC-MS techniques and the accompanying interpretation and evaluation of results; ensuring compliance to statutory methodology and Laboratory Quality management system (ISO 17025 procedures and work instructions); ensuring and maintaining quality service delivery to customers; effective communication; advising and reporting.
Key Requirements: ND/BSc or higher in Analytical Chemistry or Food Technology coupled with five years relevant laboratory experience. Candidates must have extensive GC experience in a food laboratory environment including experience in GC method development, validation and implementation of methods. Candidates with experience in GC-MS will be strongly preferred. Knowledge of and experience in an ISO 17025 environment would be advantageous.
Additional Requirements: Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; scientific proficiency; customer service skills; good communication skills; administrative and reporting skills; analytical thinking skills; superior planning; organising skills and attention to detail; financial acumen; able to communicate technical information; able to adhere to health and safety procedures; ability to analyse and interpret data; ability to troubleshoot instrumental problems.
Remuneration: Market related.
